verse works of Shahwar Kibria

Listening with Folly; "noiseless tenor" (T.G.)

We always said it, in impenetrable metaphors.

Our eyes
Our lips
Our frowns
Our smiles
Our gasps
Our locks
Our moves
Our mimes

Always spoke!

???

I wonder…
…How?

Across the dunes…
Of naught and eternity
We spoke in all languages

But

Of the tongue!

Spoke in languages
Known only to poets
And you all, listened?

Hah!

Wonderment!

Are we that loquacious?
To your automated ears?
Or you choose to be blindly deafened
By charmed acceptance?

How you all listen…ed
I wonder!
Since She first
Spoke with Fruit!

And oceans never not roared any louder!

How you all listened
But never heard!

And oceans were drowned in cacophony!

and droplets shone on stones
the stones you hurled at your moon!
